What relationship do homeless young adults have with their health?

The Challenge

As part of their global Young Health Programme, a healthcare charity and its partners commissioned Naked Eye to create a series of ethnographic films to understand how young people across the UK look for advice and support on decisions that affect their lives and general wellbeing.

Ethnography

The team spent time with six young people exploring the gaps in the current health service and how it impacts homelessness, which services they valued, and the opportunities to engage young homeless people to their healthcare needs.

Outcome

The results of the overall study - including survey work and focus groups by other professional market research agencies - highlighted some challenging considerations for policy makers, commissioners and healthcare providers. This resulted in the launch of a new report into young homeless people’s health needs and MP’s and other key influencers pledging to help improve the health outcomes of young homeless people. The report ‘Making It Matter: Improving the Health of Young Homeless People’ was launched later that year in Parliament by the charity and its partners.
