The Challenge

This was a fact finding mission in remote regions in Tanzania to learn more about the opportunities for low cost technology to support child literacy.

Ethnography

Ethnographers teamed up with developers, strategists and a partner organisation in rural parts of Tanzania. The team conducted interviews and observation with village elders, school teachers, children, their parents and other stakeholders.

Outcome

The learning demonstrated a range of different technological propositions that have the potential to transform learning opportunities for children in small group settings and in the home. The organisation continues to collaborate with its partner organisation in Tanzania to test and pilot early stage e-book prototypes.
